A new fitness franchise launches its first location tomorrow in Irving-Las Colinas, Texas (9 September 2023), looking to establish itself as "the world’s smartest fitness studio".
Lumin Fitness was co-founded in 2019 by former Gold’s Gym CEO, Brandon Bean and former KWEST CEO, Omeed Shams.
Having proven the concept, the two are now taking the leap into franchising.
The offering blends personalisation, gamification and progress tracking for members, using dynamic, wall-to-wall LED screens that create an interactive, immersive environment that changes daily and evolves over time (see images below).
Each 40-minute class combines PT with group fitness, while deploying AI, digital displays, motion tracking and object detection to keep workouts efficient, fresh and engaging.
Lumin Fitness franchisees will also be able to use proprietary technology to operate with minimal staffing, automation and operational efficiencies. Classes can run throughout the day and with the low staffing model, Bean says margins are strong.
“My career ignited my passion for fitness and franchising, but it also revealed to me the untapped potential of how technology can transform the brick-and-mortar fitness space,” Bean told HCM.
He said the company has placed global growth at the forefront of operations: "From day one, the Lumin Fitness concept was designed with two primary customers in mind: the end user, who deserves a fun and motivating fitness experience, and the franchise owner, who wants to play a pivotal role in transforming how fitness and technology coexist.
“Alongside my technical founder, Omeed Shams and our talented global team, I want to leverage our collective experiences to introduce something no one had ever seen before," he continued.
"At the crossroads of cutting-edge AI technology and a steady rise in demand for hyper-personalized fitness experiences, Lumin Fitness was born.”
Bean has hired former Gold's Gym exec, Craig Sherwood, as chief development officer and is seeking partners to accelerate expansion through franchising.
