Last year, Taylor Made Designs launched its end of use textile recycling programme. Between January 1, and September 30, 1753Kg of end of use textile materials, was collected from the TMD office, sorted, securely shredded and recycled.
The official Environmental Impact Statement shows that, by disposing of garments responsibly using this deconstruction and recycling process, a total of 2980Kg of CO2 has been saved from entering the atmosphere. Plus, an estimated 1,787,030 litres of water have been saved due to a combination of avoiding landfill and the impact saved from the recycling and re-purposing versus manufacturing from new.
James Taylor, MD, TMD, says: “Our programme makes responsible and secure textile disposal possible for any sized organisation. The whole recycling process is fully documented, giving clients written certification of the entire process including their own Environmental Impact Statement.
“When Places Leisure rebranded recently, we disposed of all their redundant workwear via this recycling process. Garments were shredded and repurposed into new yards, insulation and composites or turned into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). 100 per cent avoided ending up in landfill.”
