This Autumn, Pulse Fitness completed a £2m (US$2.4m, €2.3m) renovation project to re-open the Killamarsh Community Centre in Derbyshire that had sat closed and redundant since the pandemic.
Since reopening in October, the centre has seen a flurry of new members ranging from young children to pensioners all enjoying the new offering as part of an active, healthy lifestyle in the local community.
As part of a 20-year Strategic Leisure Development Partner contract between Pulse and North East Derbyshire District Council, Pulse’s market-leading services were called upon to transform the Killamarsh centre back into a community hub once more.
The Pulse Group utilised each of its departments from Design & Build to Pulse Fitness and Pulse Solutions to finish the refurbishment to a high standard, complete with an upgraded 3G outdoor football pitch, fully renovated indoor sports hall, dedicated spin studio and 80-station gym, installed with Pulse Fitness’ top of the range fitness equipment. The renovation also saw the introduction of a brand-new community café to create a space for all local residents to enjoy.
A representative from Pulse said: “We’re incredibly proud of our relationship with North East Derbyshire District Council which has seen us work on many projects in recent years, including Bolsover Arc, Eckington Sport Centre, and Dronfield Leisure Centre.
“It’s been a pleasure to add Killamarsh Active to our Derbyshire portfolio and bring a much-needed Community Centre back to the area.
“We’ve been able to maximise each of our specialisms here to produce an end project that delivers on the main brief and outlined objectives. We hope the community enjoy exploring their brand-new centre and we look forward to working with North East Derbyshire District Council again in the future.”
The District Council commented: “It’s always a delight to work with the team at Pulse. As a previous partner, we thoroughly trusted the redevelopment of Killamarsh Active in the hands of the Pulse team.
“Their industry expertise has helped shape the entire project from initial design and planning to development and implementation and we’re delighted with the final completion. The re-opening of the centre has created a real buzz in the local community, offering local residents of all ages and backgrounds a place to meet and to develop healthy and fun lifestyles from the vast array of different activities we now offer.”
