Wigan Warriors switch it up and announce Myzone as new official heart rate monitoring partner
13 May 2021 . BY Megan Whitby
Myzone is providing all first-team players and all playing squads with the MZ-Switch heart rate monitor and Myzone equipment
Myzone has announced it's partnering with Wigan Warriors as the rugby club’s official heart rate monitor supplier.

In addition to the players using the MZ-Switch for performance tracking, game days and recovery sessions, the club is also running a movement campaign across its community, empowering more people to fall in love with exercise and sport.

“The partnership first came about following a previous conversation with Wigan legend and England Rugby World Cup-winning captain, Jason Robinson,” explained David Stalker, Myzone CEO of EMEA.

“With an element of serendipity, Jason introduced us to the Wigan Warriors team and it made sense that we partner together for this special opportunity to really make a difference in both team performance and in the greater community.”

Providing belts for all first-team players and all playing squads, the MZ-Switch heart rate monitor and Myzone equipment will gamify players’ training on pre-game days and in recovery sessions.

In addition to the competitive benefits, the Community Foundation is also running a campaign within the community where everyone that reaches the World Health Organization’s guidelines for physical activity – 1,300 MEPs in a month – gets a free heart rate monitor at the end of the campaign.

“Myzone is delighted to be partnering with the most successful British rugby league team in history, to support their players’ performance, and engage the wider Wigan community to increase levels of physical activity,” explains Jonathan Monks, Myzone director of EMEA.

The MZ-Switch being used is the world's first interchangeable heart rate monitor for the gym, outdoors or in water. Integrated into the club’s Community Foundation projects along with fan engagement initiatives, Myzone’s ethos of making movement more fun for more people will be embraced to encourage physical activity and wellbeing inside and out of the training ground.

Wigan Warriors’ head of performance, Ian Bentley, commented: “We’re delighted to incorporate Myzone’s innovative products into our High-Performance programme.

“As a club, we’re always striving for improvements both off and on the field, and this technology will allow us to accurately understand player exertion levels and amend sessions accordingly.

“Our players are a competitive group so have already found the group heart rate display to be a great addition to the first-team gym, where they’ve been able to monitor performance in real-time and challenge each other.”

About the MZ-Switch
MZ-Switch is the world's first interchangeable heart rate monitor for the gym, outdoors or in water. Wearable three ways, simply switch between the chest belt, wrist strap and armband, depending on your choice of physical activity.

Wearing the Switch on your wrist or arm is best for non-gripping activities such as walking, running, cycling and swimming (wrist only) but stick to the chest belt for HIIT, weights and boxing.

It’s time to switch things up. For more information visit Myzone’s official website.

About Myzone
Myzone is a unique wearable fitness brand that rewards effort rather than ability, motivating its users to feel good about exercise and work harder. It uses inclusive, game-based mechanics and social elements to build communities together on the Myzone app.

Myzone creates personalised zones for each user, based on their maximum heart rate, which means anyone can compete together on a level playing field.

Used by 1.8 million people in 84 countries, Myzone develops accurate wearable technology, to provide engaging and motivational experiences, which support behaviour change to make exercise habits stick.

The most accurate calorie cruncher on the market
The chest strap boasts a heart rate accuracy of 99.4% ECG and the wristwatch a 95 per cent PPG accuracy and in conjunction with personal body metrics, it ensures calorie-burning calculations are supremely accurate and personal to individuals in your community.

It praises like a PT
Unlike other activity monitors Myzone rewards effort, not fitness, motivating everyone to work harder. Myzone recognises everyone is different, so it creates a handicap for every user, based on their maximum heart rate, which effectively means members can compete with anyone on a level playing field.

It’s a multiplayer game
Myzone is massively addictive, challenging and motivating. Use the app to create competitions with friends or plot your progress on the leaderboard as Myzone turns effort into points, and then equates them to the World Health Organization’s guidelines for physical activity.

It’s Facebook for physical activity
Myzone has its own social media network. Use it to follow friends, analyse workouts, then ‘like’ or comment on their efforts to stay connected - whether you are competitive or love collecting those likes to keep you moving. Together we are stronger, with the unbeatable connected experience.
