Go Fit has announced that work is starting on its new wellness hub in Tenerife, which will open in Q4 2024
The 25,000sq m site will be fully operational by the start of 2025 and serve around 10,000 customers
Inside, it includes a 1,300sq m fitness suite, group training studio, a 25m swimming pool, thermal area and spa facilities
Also on offer will be nutrition services, areas for one-to-one behavioural and physiological consultations, group learning sessions, educational workshops and events
Go Fit has started work on a new wellness hub in Tenerife. It will open in Q4 of 2024 and be fully operational by the start of 2025.

The company is investing €20m (£17m) into the project, which will be its second site in the Canary islands. The combined area of the hub, including indoor and outdoor facilities, will be around 25,000sq m. Some existing facilities are being replaced.

"This project represents one of the largest inward investments into Tenerife at this time and will deliver a step-change in the wellbeing infrastructure available on the island,” said Steven Ward, strategy and innovation director of Go Fit, adding that the development will come at no cost to the local authority. “Through Go Fit’s approach to driving the health, wellbeing and happiness of local communities, the local authority is delivering a transformational public service outcome for residents, funded solely by those local residents that use the service, not general taxation or debt.”

Go Fit's new complex is expected to attract a user base of around 10,000 people from the community. The city council estimates that this will be ten times more than the usage previously recorded at the original facilities.

It will provide a wide range of water-based activities, including a 25m pool, learner pool, thermal area – for relaxation and rehabilitation – as well as an outdoor pool and spa facilities. There will also be a large group exercise studio, kids' area, outdoor training terrace and a fitness suite covering more than 1,300sq m.

Volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis and squash will be among the sports offered by the centre.

Overall, indoor facilities will cover 7,000sq m and will include spaces for nutrition services, areas for one-to-one behavioural and physiological consultations, group learning sessions, educational workshops and events.

“Go Fit is dedicated to using science and technology to improve the lives of customers in a demonstrable measurable way,” said Ward. “It does this by providing some of the finest training environments in the world that also manage to be the friendliest and most welcoming spaces for customers from all walks of life.”

Ward told HCM that 100 per cent of the energy required for the facility will come from green energy sources.

Memberships will carry a monthly cost of around €39 (£34) per month, which includes all the services provided. A concessionary pricing scheme will be in operation in partnership with the local authority and family units do not pay for their children to join as members.

Go Fit was established in 2009 and serves over 250,000 customers across 20 facilities, with 18 in Spain and two in Portugal.
