ukactive National Summit to position physical activity as critical to health policy
POSTED 05 Aug 2019 . BY Tom Walker
The theme for the event will aim to place physical activity as the 'backbone of a modern Britain'
This year's ukactive National Summit will explore plans to shape the future of public health, the workplace and the high street.

The theme for the event has been revealed as "The Backbone of a Modern Britain", positioning physical activity – and the sectors that deliver it – as critical to the future health, wellbeing and prosperity of the nation.

The seminar programme will examine three major areas of public life under the banners of "How We Live", "Where We Live" and "How We Work". Sessions will focus on showing how the sector is inextricably connected and influenced by other sectors and institutions, from construction, housing and building developers, to employee benefits providers, and the insurance, retail and business sectors.

“Physical activity must be a key issue on the political agenda; one which crosses party lines and departments," said chair of ukactive Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.

“From infrastructure to business, public services to high street retail, our partner sectors can have a tremendous impact on our ambition to reverse generation inactive, transform working life and reimagine ageing."

As part of ukactive’s partnership with Sport England, the grassroots sports body will take a headline role in this year’s Summit, leading a dedicated workshop throughout the day focused on how its Active Environments strategy is making an impact across the country.

The event will take place on 31 October at the QEII Centre in Westminster.
