1Rebel to send London into a spin with fitness amphitheatre
POSTED 13 Jul 2018 . BY Luke Cloherty
Alternative fitness operator 1Rebel has opened the world’s first spin studio amphitheatre in Victoria, London.
The 7,000sq ft (650sq m) arena at Victoria’s Nova – a multi-restaurant development in the area – houses an 86-bike studio over three stories, as well as an instructor platform that ascends and descends during the class via a remote control scissor lift.
The spin studio is also home to a sensory shower system and a 3D sound system – one of only two in the world along with the one at the Sydney Opera House.
From a design point of view, the studio is encased in industrial-modern copper piping and white lacquered exposed brick. A galvanized steel staircase leads up to the changing areas while milky PVC drapery adorns said staircase.
"Places like this are built for performance," said brand ambassador and Olympic heptathlon gold medalist, Louise Hazel. "They exist to push you to your optimum limits, to make you better."
1Rebel was set up by founders Giles Dean and James Balfour three years ago and also has sites at Broadgate, Bayswater and the Southbank in London.
Improving physical strength and fitness, mental health and confidence are the main reasons
for joining a health club, while cost, time and motivation are the main reasons for leaving.
Planet Fitness has announced the repurchase of 314,000 shares at a rate of US$20
million. The
Class A common stocks were repurchased and retired, using cash.
Xponential Fitness today indefinitely suspended founder and CEO, Anthony Geisler, saying it
had been notified on 7 May that the company is facing a legal challenge by the United States
Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.
Complaints about group exercise have become a thing of the past for the Reynolds Group
thanks to its partnership with CoverMe, a digital platform that simplifies group exercise
and PT management for clubs and instructors. [more...]
