Circadian Trust is overseeing a multi-million pound redevelopment programme funded by South Gloucestershire Council to rejuvenate leisure facilities across Bristol.
The operator’s Active Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre is currently subject to a £3.6m overhaul which sees a major extension to the existing gym area, as well as the addition of adventure climbing walls, a two-storey adventure play area, a 12-station toning suite and fully refurbished changing rooms.
The redevelopment project – which is a joint partnership between Createability and Alliance Leisure – will be carried out in three phases, with work anticipated to be completed by January 2017. Alliance is acting as the development partner to the council, and Createability as the appointed leisure, design and build specialist to design and carry out the construction works.
Meanwhile, Active Thornbury Leisure Centre is also receiving a brand new look thanks to a quarter of a million-pound makeover of the gym. This includes the addition of a dedicated functional fitness area, and a separate, fully mirrored, weight training area in response to customer demand. Technogym is providing a range of fitness equipment across both sites as part of the fitness refurbs.
“As a not for profit organisation, we are continually looking for exciting and innovative ways to reinvest in leisure facilities across South Gloucestershire,” said Circadian Trust director of Commercial Development Ben Beasley.
“Bradley Stoke is one of our most popular Active centres and we need to accommodate growing customer demand, both in numbers and the sort of activities that are becoming more popular. There will be a change in some facilities but we believe that the new mix will provide better overall outcomes across age ranges and will increase the numbers taking part in physical activity locally.”
