Frame founders target new sites outside London
POSTED 02 Feb 2016 . BY Jak Phillips
(L-R) Joan Murphy and Pip Black founded Frame in 2009 with the aim of making fitness more easily accessible
Female-focused fitness chain Frame is looking at sites outside of London as it seeks to kickstart a significant expansion plan.

The company, which launched its third site in King’s Cross late last year, is exploring locations in several trendy UK cities in a bid to export boutique fitness beyond the capital. London has been a hotbed of boutique fitness growth in recent years and several of the city’s concepts are now looking at expansion further afield.

"We're keen to cut our teeth outside of London, and our growth plans in the long term are quite big," co-founder Pip Black told the BBC.

Having received funding in December from angel investors, Black reiterated the company’s plans to launch two new sites each year and said Brighton, Bristol and Manchester are all possible locations.

Frame’s turnover hit £2.8m in 2015 and the company’s founders have previously said they expect this to increase to around £5m this year as they scale up the retail side of the business.

Frame Kings Cross features a retail area stocked with a wide range of active wear and the company is embarking on a second sportswear collaboration with fashion chain Whistles set to launch in May. The company also launched a new website last year, which aside from the fitness offering, features an online shop carrying a range of on-brand clothing, nutrition and lifestyle products.
