Sébastien Foucan is credited as one of the founders of freerunning
Film star and parkour pioneer Sébastien Foucan is teaming up with David Stalker’s new trampolining venture to launch a series of Foucan Freerunning Academies.
The first Foucan Freerunning Academy will be at Oxygen Freejumping in Acton, West London – which opens to the public on July 20 – and the French freerunner believes this will herald the start of a “fantastic journey”.
"I am very excited to be collaborating with Oxygen Freejumping to create a new experience of freerunning,” said Foucan, who famously showcased his high-octane skills in the opening sequence to James Bond film Casino Royale (see video below).
“What I am passionate about is developing an environment where people can play with freedom because for me, activity is vitality.”
Oxygen Freejumping in Acton will feature 150 connected trampolines on the main floor, along with dodgeball courts, a giant airbag, “walk the wall trampolines”, basketball hoops and tumble tracks. Regular sessions offered will include Family Bounce, Teen Takeovers, Little 0’s for toddlers, fitness sessions on the park and in a dedicated rebounding studio, plus a professional trampolining academy for aspiring gymnasts and holiday camps.
“We’re looking forward to introducing a new means of moving so adults and children will be able to enjoy the very best in bouncing, jumping and freerunning,” said Oxygen Freejumping founder David Stalker.
“Sébastien will be an integral part of the design team across all of our sites, ensuring we have the very best freerunning facilities alongside all of our other activities.”
Former Places for People Leisure CEO Steve Philpott has become the latest leisure industry
heavyweight to back David Stalker’s new trampolining concept Oxygen Freejumping,
joining as an investor and non executive director.
ukactive veterans David Stalker and Fred Turok are aiming to stay anything but grounded as they
prepare for life after the physical activity organisation, by embarking on a mission to create a
nationwide trampolining empire.
The UK’s largest dedicated Parkour training facility has quadrupled in size, after
North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) commissioned facilities provider Freemove to
carry out the £100,000 upgrade.
Despite the growing shift towards functional training, health clubs can still
learn plenty more from Parkour, according to one of the movement’s pioneers.
The JD Gyms Group has completed a deal to acquire Simply Gym from Bay Leisure. The deal
comprises four gyms: one in Greater London and three in South Wales.
Women’s health specialist, The Well HQ, has secured 'sweat equity' backing from Priya Oberoi, founder of
venture capitalists, Goddess Gaia Ventures, who will take on a senior advisory role with the business.
Leisure Media has added another heavyweight to its line-up of CEOs for its inaugural HCM
Summit this October. Dean Kowarski will talk about the intersection of fitness and nutrition.
Following a hugely successful event last year in Split, Croatia, W3Fit EMEA, is heading to
the Chia Laguna resort in Sardinia from 8-11 October.
