FIA and IMSPA to host joint industry summit
POSTED 10 Nov 2011 . BY Tom Walker
The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) and the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (IMSPA) are to host a joint summit later this month.

The FIA and IMSPA Industry Summit on 29 November will feature a number of leading keynote speeches and will discuss a range of topics relating to physical activity across politics, economics and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Hosted by TV and radio sports broadcaster John Inverdale, speakers include Anne Milton, public health minister; Tessa Jowell MP, shadow Olympics minister; Richard Lewis, chair of Sport England; and Dr Richard Budgett, chief medical officer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Commenting on the event, David Stalker, CEO of FIA, said: "The potential of the 2012 Games is breath taking and the opportunities unparalleled by anything in our industry's history.

"The Summit offers a more profound understanding of the Government's and LOCOG's strategy and how we can utilise our resources to make the health legacy a reality. Everyone who is serious about their own 2012 strategy and a sustainable health legacy for the nation should attend."

Last month, FIA announced its intentions to rebrand and rename the association as part of a strategy to reflect its role in working across the UK's physical activity sector.
