A £3.1m project to transform South Charnwood Swimming Pool in Leicestershire into a leisure centre is nearing completion.
New facilities will include a gym and a dance studio, changing rooms and additional car parking.
The development is expected to open ahead of schedule in early September according to contractors G F Tomlinson.
Cllr Peter Lewis, cabinet member for leisure and culture at Charnwood Borough Council, said: "This is incredibly exciting news - watching this great building evolve into something the entire community can enjoy.
"I can't wait to see it open and celebrate more good news for everyone in these nationally worrying and grim times."
Barry Sewards, chair of G F Tomlinson, added: "It is always very rewarding to be involved in a project for the benefit of all the public. The fulfilment of constructing the project is only outweighed by the facilities it provides to everyone. We wish to thank Charnwood Borough Council for the opportunity to construct the facility."
