Debbie Jevans named Football League's first female chair
POSTED 10 Sep 2018 . BY Tom Walker
Jevans becomes the first woman to lead the EFL
Debbie Jevans, one of the main architects of London 2012, has been named interim chair of the English
Football League (EFL).

Jevans has taken up the role following the surprise resignation of Ian Lenagan, who has stepped down after only two years as chair.

The appointment means that Jevans becomes the first woman to lead the EFL. She has been tasked to lead the process of appointing a new, permanent chair.

It is the latest "first" achieved by Jevans during her 30-year career in sports management and administration.

She was the first female to be appointed director of sport for an Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (at London 2012), and followed that up by becoming the first woman to be named CEO of a Rugby World Cup.

She was awarded a CBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List for her services to the London 2012 Games and in 2014 was voted the most influential woman in British Sport.
