1Rebel to send London into a spin with fitness amphitheatre
POSTED 13 Jul 2018 . BY Luke Cloherty
Alternative fitness operator 1Rebel has opened the world’s first spin studio amphitheatre in Victoria, London.
The 7,000sq ft (650sq m) arena at Victoria’s Nova – a multi-restaurant development in the area – houses an 86-bike studio over three stories, as well as an instructor platform that ascends and descends during the class via a remote control scissor lift.
The spin studio is also home to a sensory shower system and a 3D sound system – one of only two in the world along with the one at the Sydney Opera House.
From a design point of view, the studio is encased in industrial-modern copper piping and white lacquered exposed brick. A galvanized steel staircase leads up to the changing areas while milky PVC drapery adorns said staircase.
"Places like this are built for performance," said brand ambassador and Olympic heptathlon gold medalist, Louise Hazel. "They exist to push you to your optimum limits, to make you better."
1Rebel was set up by founders Giles Dean and James Balfour three years ago and also has sites at Broadgate, Bayswater and the Southbank in London.
Global luxury hospitality brand, Six Senses, has partnered with longevity healthcare provider,
HUM2N, to launch a clinic at Six Senses London, at The Whiteley.
Premium London health club, KX Chelsea, will imminently unveil its most significant
redevelopment since its launch in 2002 to create an integrated wellness model combining
training, recovery and relaxation.
Researchers in the US have identified an antibody which could greatly reduce the loss of lean
muscle mass in people who are taking weight-loss medications.
Celebrating its milestone 5th anniversary, W3Fit EMEA returns in 2026 with an unmissable
gathering of the Health & Fitness industry’s most influential leaders. [more...]
Elevate is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in style this June, with organisers
confirming the event’s largest-ever drinks reception as registrations continue to run more
than 10% ahead of last year. [more...]
