The 'next level' Lanesborough Club & Spa will open in March
POSTED 20 Feb 2017 . BY Rebecca Barnes
Billed as London’s finest private member’s club, The Lanesborough Club & Spa will launch on 13 March 2017, offering hotel guests and members ‘next level’ fitness, wellness and lifestyle services.

Spread over 18,000sq ft (1,672sq m), the ‘luxury club for life’ will offer a 360° approach to wellbeing for Londoners living and working in both the local area and further afield.

Benjamin Evans, The Lanesborough Club & Spa general manager, will oversee all management aspects, including areas of nutrition, fitness, spa and beauty therapy, as well as personally overseeing the exclusive Club & Spa Butlers.

Inspired by the Roman Bath Spa, interior design practice 1508 has created an elegant, exclusive sanctuary. Spa consultant Neil Howard of Howard Spa Consulting oversaw the project.

“The Lanesborough Hotel is a traditional British institution, so when designing the spa areas, we used the hotel’s heritage as inspiration and drew on its classic aesthetic to create a space with a modern but quintessentially English feel,” said Louise Wicksteed, creative director and partner at 1508 London.

“To reinforce the Britishness, we used Bath Stone throughout the design and used various textures and honing and carving techniques to add interest and depth.”

Expert partners include fitness lifestyle brand Bodyism, with creator James Duigan on hand to give sessions on request; British ‘beyond organic’ spa brand Ila; Swiss skincare brand La Prairie, and ‘super facial therapist’ Anastasia Achilleos, who will also be available for personal treatments.

The spa, which has been constructed in a former commercial building next door to the Hyde Park hotel, has two entrances - one from the hotel and another private member’s entrance - and features a hydrotherapy pool alongside gender specific thermal suites, experience shower, spa treatment lounge, ‘quiet room,’ manicure and pedicure room, a gentlemen’s club and ladies dressing room complete with luxury products.

Spa manager is Debbie Lowry, who has been instrumental in bringing new, innovative techniques and therapies to London, including the first oxygen facials. Lowry has shaped the development of the La Prairie and Ila treatments, combining her passion for innovative beauty with an innate understanding of luxury.

Spa experiences take place in one of the four individual or the VIP treatment room complete with double showers and rasul.

Treatments include The Platinum Rare Facial by La Prairie which features infusions of platinum; Ila Deep Tissue Potali, which uses hot volcanic stones to reduce inflammation and joint stiffness; and Anastasia Achilleos’ Method of Excellence, a facial therapy which incorporates massage and steam.

The Club & Spa will host a series of classes featuring handpicked fitness coaches, personal trainers, dance tutors and yoga instructors, with a private studio available for one to one workouts. Programmes are customised and flexible, and a team of trainers specialising in different areas of fitness, will offer their expertise and help members achieve their goals.

Expert nutritional advice is also available for members, supported by clean and lean Bodyism inspired dishes.

The Lanesborough London is part of the Oetker Collection of masterpiece hotels. With 93 guest rooms, including 43 suites and a personal butler service for all guests, its prime Knightsbridge position offers panoramic views of Hyde Park.
