Merlin's Dominic Jones joins Thorpe Park as divisional director
POSTED 11 Jan 2017 . BY Tom Anstey
Previously responsible for brands including Sea Life, Madame Tussaud’s and Merlin’s Dungeon attractions in Europe, Jones is now responsible for continuing to develop and grow Thorpe Park
Thorpe Park has named Dominic Jones as its new divisional director, with Merlin’s former head of Midway Attractions in Europe now responsible for continuing to develop and grow the popular UK theme park.

Previously responsible for brands including Sea Life, Madame Tussaud’s and Merlin’s Dungeon attractions in Europe, Jones has also operated as park director at Oakwood in Wales, and held senior positions with Virgin Atlantic.

Bringing a wealth of global experience to the role, Jones has also worked in the leisure sector for markets including Africa, Asia, Australia, India, the Middle East and Europe.

“Thorpe Park is a stunning park and very much a leader when it comes to visitor attractions in the UK,” said Jones, commenting on his appointment.

“My focus will be to continue to provide our guests with the most amazing experiences and by listening to our visitors and our staff, continue to improve the whole resort and be part of implementing the exciting plans we have for the future. Above all, everything we do has to be the very best – we are Thorpe Park after all.”

Thorpe Park has had a busy year, unveiling its hotly-anticipated Derren Brown’s Ghost Train in July last year. Since Jones’ appointment, the ride has been closed for redevelopment after visitors requested more scares on the adult-only ride.

There are also plans afoot for new IP additions to the parks popular Fright Nights staged during the month of October. The park reopens for the 2017 season on 23 March.
