S&S Worldwide is installing a complex of three huge towers at Hershey Entertainments’ theme park in Pennsylvania.

The Hershey Triple Tower, which opens in April 2017, will consist of a 24-metre (80-foot) 12-seat Double Shot Tower, a 40-metre (131-foot) 16-seat Double Shot Tower and a 58-metre (189-foot) 20-seat Combo Tower. The Double Shot towers shoot riders to the pinnacle and gently bounce them back to the ground. The Combo Tower offers different experiences, one where riders shoot to the top, and one where they plummet to the ground at hair-raising speeds.

Hersheypark will be the first theme park in the US to boast three different-height towers. Each will deliver a different seating layout, thrill level and travel at a different speed.

“The staggered heights and various seating configurations that Hersheypark has chosen are unique and have never been done before,” said Gerald Ryan from S&S Worldwide. “We are excited about the visual impact it will have on their park and the options it will provide riders. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Hersheypark and know that S&S’s proven tower technology will be a great addition to the park’s ride selection.”

The towers will be themed around some of the brand’s most famous confectionaries, with the chocolate-coloured Hershey’s Tower being the tallest, followed by the orange-coloured Reese’s Tower and, the shortest, the silver-coloured Hershey’s Kisses Tower.

“Hersheypark is well known for providing guests with rides and attractions that the entire family can enjoy and this new ride is sure to deliver,” said Kevin Stumpf, general manager, attractions and entertainment, Hersheypark. “We are happy to be adding this new attraction that will offer families the opportunity to choose their level of thrill and enjoy panoramic views of the park.”

The rides, which reach up to 45mph (72kph), will handle a throughput of about 1,400 riders per hour and cost US$8m (€7.1m, £6.1m).
