The Gym Group in the running for European Business Award
POSTED 10 Feb 2016 . BY Jak Phillips
Treharne and his top team at the London Stock Exchange on the day of the IPO
The Gym Group is the only health club chain to have made it through to the finals of the 2015/16 European Business Awards, having been nominated for the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The company founded by John Treharne hopes to go one better and win the gong, having previously been named a finalist in 2014. More than 33,000 businesses across the continent entered this year’s awards and a triumph would cap a memorable year for The Gym Group in which it launched a successful IPO.

Treharne told Health Club Management: “On top of being the first health club business to list on the London Stock Exchange for more than 15 years, to achieve this prestigious European recognition is further reward for all of the hard work and success achieved by our young and resourceful team.”

The company will now undertake a face-to-face interview with the judges, in the hope it will be named one of the overall winners of the Awards’ 11 categories at a Gala Ceremony in June.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards, said: “To survive in this economic climate is hard enough, so to innovate, prosper and grow in the way this year’s recipients have is truly remarkable. Europe needs more companies like these. Well done to The Gym Group.”
