Work is well underway on a new GLL Better Gym in Stratford, east London, on the site of the 2012 Games Olympic Village.

The £900,000 low-cost offering, which is located in the heart of East Village in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, is expected to open on 10 August.

Leisure design and build specialist Createability is currently creating a 10,000sq ft (929sq m) health club with 130 Technogym stations. There will be a functional training area with an XCube functional frame and a free weights zone comprising dumbbells, squat racks, bench presses, a lifting platform and Technogym pure strength plate-loaded machines.

The gym will also feature a 2,000sq ft (186sq m) studio offering a range of classes including cardio, aerobics, dance, HIIT, strength, calm, group cycling and circuits.

“Better Gym Stratford has been carefully designed around our passion for fitness and focuses on offering world class fitness equipment at an affordable price,” said Better Gym Stratford GM Guntis Uzarins.

“It will offer self service sign up and fast track access as well as showers, spacious changing rooms and lockers to create easy-access to exercise for local residents and workers.”
