New concept images have been released for Disney Springs – the multi-year transformation of Disney World Florida’s Downtown Disney Area.

Currently featuring restaurants, a variety of entertainment options and a range of Disney and other-branded shops on the theme park’s waterfront, the Downtown Disney entertainment complex originally opened in 1975.

In March, Disney announced plans for redevelopment and revealed that new areas would be included at the Marketplace, Landing (formerly Pleasure Island), Town Center and West Side.

To be completed in 2016, new bridges are planned to connect the area to Disney's Saratoga Springs resort, while a new causeway will connect the Marketplace to The Landing. Furthermore, "High Line" structures will be built to provide both theme and shade.

Once complete, Disney Springs will expand from 75 to more than 150 shopping, dining and entertainment venues, featuring a host of top-name brands and restaurants.
