Technogym launches Our Greatest Team campaign
POSTED 02 Mar 2012 . BY Tom Walker
Technogym has launched its own legacy programme for the 2012 Olympic Games as part its role as the official fitness equipment supplier for the Games.

The Our Greatest Team campaign will be fronted by Technogym's Olympic Ambassador Christine Ohuruogu and will include the "I Pledge" wellness scheme which encourages members of the public to make promises relating to physical activity levels.

During a launch event in London yesterday (1 March), Lord Coe, chair of LOCOG, kicked off the nationwide I Pledge campaign by making his own commitment to "run as far as I can".

The initiative will be run in partnership by British Olympic Association (BOA) and Technogym and will ask members of the public to make a pledge, big or small, to improve their health and lifestyle through making a better choice or fulfilling a sporting goal such as running five kilometres.

Technogym is also introducing I Pledge to the UK fitness and wellness industry, hoping to reach more than 5,000 health clubs, schools, universities and local authority centres with the goal of creating a network of I Pledge community hubs to promote the program and allow people to make a pledge.

To promote the community aspect, Technogym will set up a new social platform called Movergy, which will connect people that have pledged and help them to become more active in order to achieve their pledges and make a positive change to their lifestyle.

The launch was attended by Paul Deighton, CEO of LOCOG; Andy Hunt, CEO of BOA; Nerio Alessandri, Technogym president and founder; and Tim Hollingsworth, CEO of the British Paralympic Association.

Deighton said: "The 'I Pledge' initiative is a fantastic way for people to push beyond their personal best, make a difference to their lifestyle and also help support our Olympic and Paralympic athletes."
