Blatter 'expects' January 2022 World Cup
POSTED 07 Jan 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
Doha Port Stadium – one of the prospective 2022 venues
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has revealed that the 2022 World Cup could be held in January due to host country Qatar's hot summer.

Blatter reportedly said he "expects" the tournament to be rescheduled from June/July to accommodate more favourable conditions.

According to the BBC, Blatter said: "Although we have the basic conditions of their bid for a June and July World Cup, the FIFA executive committee is entitled to change anything that was in the bid."

Last month, the representative organisation for professional footballers across the world - FIFPro - called for the 2022 tournament to be held in the winter.
