Fitness equipment supplier Polar has launched a new heart rate-based training system for the club environment.
The Cardio GX system has been designed specifically for cardio group exercise, and aims to help instructors build momentum, enthusiasm and personalized instruction into their sessions by displaying the real time heart rate data of all participants.
Polar claims that displaying the heart rate information of members adds an extra dimension to group classes, giving a more motivating and informative session and increasing their satisfaction.
Mikko Niemi, club solutions and corporate fitness segment manager, said: "By displaying the live heart rate data on the screen, this cardio group exercise system makes the club members fitness a tangible goal that they can concentrate on maintaining or improving week on week, motivating them keep to their exercise regime and club membership."
The system also helps instructors to plan and run their classes, as the instructor can see each individual club member's effort on the screen, giving them the possibility to personalize and adapt the session for all class participants individually.
Niemi added: "The features let instructors find new ways to improve their sessions and find the best training response for every class, providing clubs with more interesting and rewarding indoor cycling and cardio classes."
