Science in Sport announces its official sponsorship of Sir Chris Hoy
POSTED 04 Jan 2010 . BY Dean Fox
Blackburn-based sports nutrition company, Science in Sport (SiS) has announced its official sponsorship of world and Olympic champion track cyclist, Sir Chris Hoy.

His historic gold medal haul at the Beijing Olympics was undoubtedly the most successful period of Chris’ career to-date, and with London 2012 clearly a major focus in repeating such a feat, Chris’ longstanding relationship with the nutrition experts is now official.

As the first athlete to officially represent the brand globally, he will join a long list of elite athletes and teams who currently use SiS products.

To kick off the sponsorship, Chris will be featured in a series of online videos, which will give the British public a real insight into Chris’ training techniques, nutrition requirements and the mental strength he takes on to the track.

Chris will be working even more closely with SiS to fine tune his nutrition strategy as part of his London 2012 preparation. With SiS committed to providing solutions for every nutritional requirement, whether that’s energy, hydration or recovery, its products are scientifically formulated to help elite sports stars and active people reach peak performance.

Sir Chris Hoy said: “Nutrition plays a huge part in how well I do on the track and also in the gym, so if I want to be the best I can be, this has to be an important part of my ritual. Having used SiS products for the last ten years and recognising the role they played in Beijing, I’m looking forward to officially working with the SiS team to get closer to them and develop this area of my preparation further.”

Pete Slater at SiS said: “Not only is Sir Chris one of the world’s best athletes, he truly epitomises what SiS is all about. Having used our products for a number of years, he clearly appreciates that staying healthy and being the best you can be requires not just the right training and commitment to an active lifestyle, but fundamentally making the right nutritional choices as well.

“We all recognise the countless hours and dedication he gives to his sport. With the next Olympics on our doorstep, we believe this to be the perfect opportunity to use this to increase the knowledge among the general public of the importance of nutrition and hopefully inspire them to also be the best they can be.”
