Following a £35m expansion and refurbishment programme, the Manchester Art Gallery will re-open to the public on May 25. The new stone and glass extension doubles the gallery's total exhibition space, and has led to the creation of three new developments. The Manchester Gallery will showcase the city's past and present creative achievements, while the Clore Interactive Gallery will provide a more hands-on family orientated experience. The third development is the Gallery of Craft and Design. The new wing also includes an education centre, conference room, and three galleries devoted to a permanent modern art collection.
