Are you fit for the future?
11 Jul 2017 . BY Lauren Heath-Jones
Gladstone's ‘Futuristically Fit’ feature insight from key industry figures
With networked fitness the norm and technology at the heart of every modern gym’s offering, business models are shifting fast and adaptability is key to success. Embracing technology holds the answer to keeping abreast of this ever-accelerating change… so says leading futurologist Stefan Hyttfors in the first of a series of white papers from Gladstone Software.

‘Futuristically Fit’ examines how the fitness industry might look in 10, or 20 years’ time, and how the speed of change will shape the fitness landscape of the future. With insight from key industry figures and advice from leading government influencers such as Sir Muir Gray and Tanni Grey-Thompson, it’s a must read for operators looking to stay ahead of the curve.

Extract: ‘The fitness wellness consumer is so much more sophisticated than 10 years ago. How we ‘consume’ fitness has become what retail refers to as omni-channel – the classic model of joining one gym no longer applies. Consumers might join a budget gym, stream exercise classes, do Park Runs, download their PT from an app and cherry pick from boutique offerings. Exercise is without doubt the new medicine and it’s our job to change the culture of inactivity, but those who win will be the ones who use digital offerings to create personalisation and appeal to the sophisticated, fragmented consumer who doesn’t want to be reached in traditional in club way.’
