The Forest of Dean District Council (FDDC) is planning to invest £800,000 in a number of local leisure centres in a bid to improve the quality and range of services for local residents.
Cabinet members will meet tomorrow (10 May) to debate the Leisure Management Strategy, with £300,000 already ring-fenced for investment in Forest Leisure Cinderford.
However, FDDC has now identified a potential £500,000 for invest-to-save schemes such as the enlargement of the fitness suite at Lydney and a new artificial sports pitch at Sedbury.
Other measures contained within the strategy include retaining operation of the Lydney and Newent centres and Sedbury to be school-managed under a contract with the council.
