Drusillas celebrating successful year
28 Jun 2004 . BY
Laurence and Christine Smith, directors of the award-winning east Sussex zoo, Drusillas, are celebrating another good year in terms of visitor satisfaction.

Recent research shows that visitors are not only flocking in to Drusillas, but are pleased with the services provided while annual visitor numbers are now close to 350,000.

The zoo added a new prairie dog and meerkat enclosure last year. It also introduced a Mokomos Jungle Rock attraction to its facilities.

For 2004, Drusillas intends to spend another £600,000 on new projects, including the arrival of blue and gold macaws and silvery marmosets. Other improvements to the zoo include the refurbishments of the railway station and Wacky Workshop, as well as the installation of a new, interactive attraction.

Christine Smith, who bought the zoo with her husband seven years ago, said: “We believe there are three main factors that contribute to our success. Extensive market research allows us to remain aware of our customer needs and to respond accordingly.

“Investment to improve facilities and add new attractions helps retain customer satisfaction and we are also extremely lucky to have a loyal and dedicated workforce, without which we could not possibly achieve such success.”
