The Tanita Scales provide instant analysis of a client's health and fitness status as well as monitoring their progress over time
The scales open different revenue potentials – Steve McClory
Code Fitness is co-owned by Steve McClory and Luke Watson and was launched in 2013 to help more people achieve tangible fitness results.
In 2018, the organisation built a purpose-based gym dedicated to this goal, where members have a variety of different systems – each with a defined process –to choose from to help them achieve their desired goal.
An integral part of these systems is the Tanita Body Composition Analyser which allows members to measure and understand their progress.
It’s one of the essential parts of the gym’s Code Premier Membership and is designed for health seekers who may be active elsewhere but visit Code specifically for the Tanita measurement system and to receive advice, coaching and motivation.
“The Tanita scales are not only brilliant for monitoring progress but are also great for a conversation starter on a variety of things,” comments McClory, “by having so much information from a quick analysis we can focus on different things with different people.”
Different pieces of information can be taken from the results of the analysis and can be focused on depending on what the desired result is.
“We tend to use five main pieces of information for each of our systems,” McClory says, “for example, for our Good Health Membership we focus on metabolic age, visceral fat, phase angle, muscle mass and body fat percentage.”
The Tanita Body Composition Analyser gives you the opportunity to target a market that many would view as not your traditional gym members.
“Our health membership and analysis attract members whose sole focus is improving health, which has helped us grow and develop as a business. It allows us to stand out as a gym that offers and delivers a far more personalised solution to a variety of different problems.
“For example, members on our Health Membership package love seeing all the results change but especially the metabolic age one. No one in their forties wants to see their metabolic age in the sixties but they love it when it starts to come down and even more so when they get the age below their actual age!
“The scales open different revenue potentials including one-off uses, regular monthly check-ins and incorporating them into your gym memberships. We offer all three and we’ve seen a significant improvement in compliance and retention off the back of it.
“We chose Tanita because they are at the forefront of this technology. I’d highly recommend them to any gym owners as they are extremely professional and supportive with everything we’ve needed.”
