EMS studio operator Bodystreet adds two locations – targets 200 UK sites by 2025

Fitness studio operator Bodystreet has expanded its UK operations with the opening of two new studios.
The franchise-based company has opened sites in Coventry and Edinburgh, bringing the number of properties in its portfolio to eight.
Bodystreet studios offer a combination of personal training with electrical muscle stimulation (EMS).
The company launched with a single micro-studio in Munich in Germany in 2007. After two years of developing the concept, it set out on an expansion push using franchising.
The number of studios has since grown to almost 300 across Germany, Austria, Italy and the UK, with more than 40,000 people taking part in classes every week.
It opened its first UK site in 2017.
UK Master Franchisor Mark Holland said: “The EMS market in the UK continues to grow, with some of our locations seeing a 40 per cent increase in members since November 2018.
“Because the training is so effective and requires just 20 minutes once per week, we see huge growth potential in the UK – my goal is to have 200 studios by 2025.”
The two new studios join Bodystreet’s existing six sites in Worthing, Milton Keynes, Gibraltar, North London, Sutton Coldfield and Bristol.
Bodystreet uses equipment supplied by EMS specialist Miha Bodytec.
Miha Bodytec UK country director Phil Horton said: “The market potential for EMS training is vast, with the potential to tap into an entirely new market – previously inactive individuals who don’t like a typical gym environment.”

to six, with operations in Eltham, Birmingham and Gibraltar planned to open this year.
The HCM team were busy at the recent FIBO Global Fitness event in Cologne, Germany,
distributing a special FIBO edition of HCM in support of the event as its global media
partner.
The fitness sector’s pivot to active wellbeing is being discussed in a new weekly podcast, called
The Conveners, and hosted by chair of GM Active and director of Miova, Andy King with
industry veteran, John Oxley, as a guest presenter.
Basic-Fit has signed up to trial the Wellhub network across its recently expanded Spanish
network, giving access to subscribers and enabling them to use all 152 of its Spanish clubs.
Having redefined the model of public-private collaboration in Spain, Go Fit is now expanding
into Italy and has ambitious plans to grow its estate, memberships and profits.
