The Historic Dockyard Chatham introduces a number of new facilities this year to continue to boost visitor numbers, which increased by 27 per cent during 2001. As well as the introduction of two heritage buses to transports visitors between the dockyard's attractions, there are plans for a range of interactive exhibits for children and adults including radio-controlled ships and submarines in a model dockyard, a indoor soft play area and an interactive history trail to explore the dockyard. A new visitor reception and shop will open in the Mast House with a computerised ticketing system and a new shop selling books, clothes and maritime-related goods.
