Liverpool is to get a new interactive £7m visitor attraction. The International Astronomy and Space Centre (IASC) will feature 12 zones including Voyager, a journey to the stars in a time machine simulator, a multi-sensory mechanical solar system and the Celestial Sphere Atrium, a suspended globe that visitors can walk through with a galaxy inside. IASC will be built and run by specialist designer of visitor attractions, Sarner. It is the aim of the project team to bring astronomy and space to life. Visitors will be taken on a realistic journey through the creation of our universe and solar system, said co-owner of Sarner, Ross Magri. IASC is due to be completed by spring 2003.
