Ominplex Holdings, Ireland's leading cinema operator, is opening its first UK cinema in London. The multiplex will open at the Metropolis Centre in Borehanwood, North London in February. The move signals the start of a major expansion plan for Ominplex, which already has 52 screens in operation across Ireland. 'Ireland has been extremely successful in maintaining and developing its cinema audience; the rate of cinema going has reached nearly four visits per person per year compared to the current 2.6 visits in the UK,' said Paul Anderson of Ominplex. The opening of the cinema will lead to the rejuvenation of the Metropolis Centre, which is now being renamed and refurbished.
