Seeing its UK launch at GLEE recently was the Barbara Butler range of custom built, site-specific children's play structures.
With prices ranging from £5000 to £50,000 - including delivery and installation - the collection includes eight playhouses in a variety of designs and sizes, three play forts, in different sizes and configurations, and 35 large play structures, the latter featuring two design of children's theatre.
Also available are six different public play structures designed for hotels, play parks and schools and created with the two to five and five to 12 age groups in mind. One of them - Fort Saratoga - was designed for Walt Disney's Saratoga Springs resort and is accessible for children with disabilities.
Each is hand built from Douglas Fir timber and individually customised through hand staining the wooden panels to a colour scheme specified by the client from a choice of 48 colours.
All of the structures can be complemented by items from a selection of play accessories such as tables and chairs, swings, perches and zip wires, ships wheels and water cannon.
Except for the smaller playhouses, a site survey is required. A client's requirements will be discussed and recommendations made as to the most suitable structure.
