Bristol's Central Library has reopened after a major refurbishment programme. The building's 1960's extension was closed to the public for 12 months while facilities were upgraded. The new facilities include a café and events space, free internet terminals and PC workstations. The children's library has been extended with a maritime-themed book den for younger children and an activity area for story time and craft activities. There is a separate area for teenagers with audio-visual materials and a new coffee bar. The refurbishment means the library is fully accessible to disabled people and parents with pushchairs. A special colour scheme also makes it easy for partially sighted people to find their way around the library.
