Hotel Inn Woking has opened, flagged as the town's first four-star hotel and boasting an environmentally-friendly energy supply. The hotel has 161 rooms, each with Internet access, black-out facilities and individually controlled air-conditioning. In addition, there are 13 executive rooms, a mini gym and a bar and brasserie. The hotel is the first Holiday Inn in the UK to benefit from a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) station. As a result, the hotel has all its electricity and heated/chilled water supplied from one energy source. This also means the hotel will use no ozone depletion substances in its air-conditioning systems and save 1,000 tonnes of carbon monoxide emissions per annum. This energy station project was viewed as the ideal opportunity of providing an environmentally friendly way of powering the hotel, said Debra Hulme, general manager. Under Holiday Inn's Conference Network brand, the hotel also offers seven seminar and training rooms for up to 70 delegates.
