EXF worked with the Solent sport team to develop three bespoke training rigs
It was great to be able to bring Solent’s vision to life and offer them bespoke solutions that are able to withstand the rigours of a high performance environment

Leading bespoke fitness equipment manufacturer, EXF Fitness has recently completed an installation project at Solent University in Southampton.

Working as part of a wider project, which has seen the University open a brand new £28m sports facility, EXF has supplied the team with flooring and bespoke functional training rig solutions.

The new facility includes a high performance spaces for the university’s elite athletes, a dedicated teaching facility to be used by the university’s sports degree students and a 90 station state-of-the-art gym for community use.

The high performance area needed to be able to withstand the rigors of an elite sports performance environment and as such needed a bespoke flooring solution. EXF supplied and installed a 64mm thick tile solution with built in impact for performance. The team also installed a bespoke running track to allow for sprint training, prowler-sledge work amongst other activities. The agility turf track was designed in bespoke grey and green colours.

Throughout the rest of the facility EXF supplied flooring from its performance range. The EXF functional performance flooring range has been specifically designed to help reduce the chances of injury during sporting activity, by integrating the specially formulated EXF Control SD underlay system. Making it ideal for any functional training area, the range includes noise reduction, shock absorption and anti-slip properties.

EXF worked with the Solent sport team to create three bespoke functional training rigs. Each rig has been designed to suit the purpose of each gym, for instance the rig found in the main community use gym has been designed in striking red and black colours to create a real focal point of the facility. The custom built rig has a range of attachments including medicine ball throw targets, suspension training anchors, pull up bars, dip bars, battle rope anchors and monkey bars to allow for a variety of training. The rig found in the high performance gym focuses on strength training and includes a range of built in racks as well as bespoke monkey bars and a smaller rig can be found in teaching facility.

“We were delighted to work with Solent University on this project,” says Danny Armsby, business development director for EXF.

“It was great to be able to bring Solent’s vision to life and offer them bespoke solutions that are able to withstand the rigours of a high performance environment as well as creating fun functional training solutions that will help keep students active and engaged with fitness.”
