| The company plans to have 50 gyms to its name by the end of April |
 |
Pure Gym is set to double its number of London gyms as the company, founded in 2008, seeks to become the biggest gym chain in the UK.
The budget gym opened a facility in Wandsworth last month and plans to open in Hammersmith, Enfield, Finsbury Park and Balham.
The company will be running a total 50 gyms by the end of April, with at least 30 openings planned before the end of the 2013-2014 financial year.
As a result of its expansion plans the company has appointed Stephen Rought Whitta group acquisitions director.
Pure Gym is reported to have made profits of £9m for the year to February, up from £5.3m in 2011-2012.
It is backed by Magenta – the private-equity firm of New Look founder Sir Tom Singh.
