Hot on the heels of Dewsbury Sports Centre launching its refurbished squash courts last weekend, the council has announced it will provide the funds to extend and improve the gym.
The centre, which is run by Kirklees Active Leisure, will have twice as many fitness stations, better training areas, bar and kitchen area.
Cabinet member for investment and housing, at Kirklees Council, Cathy Scott, says the investments are are vital to get people to be more active. “Dewsbury Sports Centre is a key local asset and such investment means that local residents will have an even better major leisure centre to make use of, helping them to get and then stay healthy, at a price that offers excellent value for money.”
