| £4m pool opens in Tyne and Wear |

A new £4m swimming pool has been unveiled in South Shields, Tyne and Wear.
The pool, which was built using a combination of funds from the former Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Building Schools for the Future programme, is on the site of Jarrow School.
The 25 metre, four-lane pool has a hydraulic floor and a deep end to allow competitive swimmers to dive.
The pool forms part of a larger £16m project, that will see the addition of a health club with a sauna and steamroom, two dance studios and fitness testing and consultation rooms.
The health club is due to open later this year and will also house a library express, outdoor terrace and amphitheatre and a rooftop viewing gallery.
Mayor Eileen Leask said: "I hope that by providing first class facilities such as this swimming pool, we can continue to nurture the young talent we have here in the Borough.
"A great deal of careful planning and hard work has gone into this project and it's fantastic to see it come to fruition."
